Welcome to Michigan's source for Art Education Success.
As the president of the Michigan Art Education Association I’d like to personally welcome you to our award winning website. Our outstanding webmaster works hard with our association to ensure that you are able to navigate quickly to your desired destination. The site offers a wealth of information from conference and event updates, current association news and assorted forms.
I am proud to be a member of this tremendous group of volunteers. Through our association, students across the state are provided multiple opportunities to exhibit their work and art teachers are supported with nationally recognized professional development.
The MAEA and NAEA are the go-to resource for art educators. When the program chairs in institutions of higher learning were asked which resources they used to find out what was happening in the field of art education in a national survey, Art Education Magazine and Studies in Art Education were the only resources named by EVERY participant. The national and state conferences were the next most frequent answer and everything else was a distant competitor. That is the kind of quality resources we provide to our members.
Please take time to view our website and become familiar with our organization’s structure of Executive Council and Council members and our regions. Please feel free to contact any one of these individuals for more information about our non-profit organization.
The Michigan Art Education Association was founded in 1949 and has provided an exemplary networking opportunity and collegial support for visual art educators throughout Michigan ever since. The Michigan Art Education Association is unified with National Art Education Association and is currently one of the largest state art organizations in the Nation. Our mission is to promote quality visual arts education through leadership, service, and professional development. We achieve our mission with the support of the high degree of volunteerism from our members, as well as collaborations with ArtServe Michigan, the Michigan Department of Education, and Michigan Education Association.
Once again welcome to our association website and please join us to experience in the common passion we share, to improve and provide quality Art Education for all of our Michigan Children.
Creatively yours,
Cindy Todd
