Dr. Cindy Todd – Art Educator of the Year

Dr. Cindy Todd is the Art Education Program Chair at Kendall College of Art & Design of FSU in Grand Rapids, MI. She is a co-creator and key designer of the Grand Rapids Public Museum School, a place-based design school that is a proud winner of the 10 million dollar XQ Super School grant.

She is an enthusiastic faculty sponsor of KCAD’s Preservice Division Chapter, guiding her students as they become active in the organization, present at conferences and perform community service. The group received the NAEA Student Chapter of the Year Award under her mentorship.

Before becoming a professor, she taught K-12 art for over 14 years, teaching at all levels, elementary, middle and high school. Cindy was Michigan’s Art Education Association President and the National Art Education Western Region Vice President. She helped Michigan’s State Board of Education revise their art education standards, and was the recipient of Michigan’s Art Educator of the Year award, the NAEA’s Student Chapter Sponsor Award of Excellence, Rochester Public School’s Secondary Teacher of the Year award, and has presented keynote addresses at conferences across the country.
